Prague – Adam Vojtěch (for YES) will propose to the government the Ministry of Health to end the use of tests as a cover certificate. From Monday, November 22, people would only have to have a certificate of vaccination or covid-19 to enter the service establishments, restaurants or mass events. Today, Vojtěch will still talk about the measures with the AntiCovid team composed of representatives of a possible future government, ie the Spolu coalition (ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09) and the Pirates’ coalition with STAN.
The YES and CSSD cabinets discussed the measures for three hours on Monday evening, but did not agree on their form. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) said at the time that the cabinet was considering more options – from ending the recognition of antigen tests to the Austrian model, which restricts the free movement of people not vaccinated against covid-19. On Wednesday, however, Babiš told Czech Television that the majority of the government is leaning towards the so-called Bavarian model, which abolishes the recognition of all tests as a covid certificate. In the end, Vojtěch told the media that he would propose a Bavarian model to the government.
Before Monday’s meeting, Vojtěch announced that, in agreement with the AntiCovid team, he would only propose the cancellation of antigen tests. However, according to the minister, there was a debate at the cabinet meeting on whether this would be enough given the state of the epidemic. Experts from the AntiCovid team are due to meet Vojtěch today and present their proposed measures. However, the ministry will no longer wait for the AntiCovid team to comment on the measures proposed by the ministry, Vojtech said on Wednesday in response to criticism of the government’s resignation from the representatives of the parties of the alternative future cabinet.
According to Wednesday, the candidate for Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS), the Ministry of Health and the AntiCovid team were to first agree on measures against the covid, and only then change the announcement to the public. The Czechia cannot afford to make covid the subject of political conflicts, he said.
