San Marino, out of 211 hospitalizations only 20 were vaccinated
A press conference was held today to update COVID-19 infections and on the progress of the vaccination campaign. Present were the Director General of the Institute for Social Security, Sergio Rabini and the head of the Territorial Covid Pierluigi Arcangeli.
Updates from COVID-19
The total number of infected people identified since the beginning of the pandemic until midnight yesterday is 5,711 of which: 125 active positives (average age 39 years, 63 females and 62 males), 92 deaths and 5,494 recoveries.
Two people are hospitalized in the isolation ward, while 123 people are followed at home, plus 72 people in home quarantine and 108 in trust quarantine.
The total swabs performed are 87,294, of which 26,744 on individuals.
AntiCOVID vaccination campaign
The total number of vaccinations registered in San Marino from the beginning of the Campaign until yesterday is 49,081 of which 23,180 people vaccinated with the first dose and 25,188 with the second dose or with the single dose and 713 those who received the dose of recall (recall).
51.4% of the vaccinated are female and 48.6% are male.
83.3% of the vaccinable population completed the immunization cycle.
Hospitalizations
The data on San Marino hospitalizations was also provided at the press conference. From the start of the vaccination campaign until 11 November 2021, 211 people were hospitalized in San Marino because they were positive for Covid-19. Of these 20 had completed the primary vaccination course (14 with Sputnik V vaccine and 6 with Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine), while the remaining 191 were not vaccinated. From these data it emerges that the hospitalization ratio in San Marino among vaccinated people varies between 0.075% (Sputnik V) and 0.16% (Pfizer), while among the unvaccinated it is 5.95%.

Infections among the vaccinated
Furthermore, from an initial analysis of the data of the study in progress between the Institute for Social Security and the INMI “Lazzaro Spallanzani” Institute in Rome, as of August 31 on over, 24 thousand San Marino citizens who had completed the vaccination, in 149 they became infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and of these, 96% were asymptomatic or symptomatic.
Comparing the data of infections between vaccinated and unvaccinated in San Marino, the risk of becoming infected is currently 7 times higher in the unvaccinated than in those who have completed the primary immunization cycle.
