Russia will recognize foreign judgments in civil and commercial matters – Society
MOSCOW, November 17. / TASS /. The Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuichenko signed the Convention on the Recognition of Foreign Judgments in Civil and Commercial Cases, according to the ministry’s website.
“On November 17, the Netherlands hosted the signing ceremony of the State Convention on Recognition and Reduction in the framework of the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
According to the minister, the recognition of foreign courts to individuals, citizens, small and medium-sized businesses is more effective in defending their violated rights in foreign jurisdictions. “The Convention has found a balance between the free circulation of court decisions, which ensures the effective operation of the right to court in a broad cross-border aspect, the possibility of national sovereignty and public interests of the state,” Chuichenko said. He expressed the hope that the signing of the convention would be followed by Russia’s accession to other important legal mechanisms developed by the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
