VENICE – The soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza of Venice have seized over 180,000 irregular products together, with the imposition of administrative sanctions and the forwarding of the report of those responsible to the judicial authorities.
In particular, in the historic center of Venice, they were checked 5 commercial outlets and found over 52,000 commonly used products displayed on the shelves and ready for sale, including objects of costume jewelery, toys, clothing and souvenirs, marketed in the absence of the required safety and quality indications of the products and, therefore, dangerous for public health with consequent administrative seizure and reporting to the Chamber of Commerce for the application of the relative sanctions pecuniary and counterfeit products (clothing, scarves, cloth masks), with the subsequent complaint to the local Judicial Authority of 2 people of Bengali nationality.
On the weekend, however, in conjunction with the increase in tourist flows, attention was paid to sector of tourist guides and so-called “water taxis”, in order to verify the possession of the relative authorizations.
In particular, the financiers carried out checks on ten subjects and, in one case, they proceeded, together with the naval component of the prescribed, to the imposition of an administrative sanction against a driver of a water taxi without the prescribed.
Further activities were carried out together with the Venice Local Police, by subjecting various B&B-type accommodation facilities to control, identifying one managed by a Bengali national entity that is completely abusive even if advertised through various internet pages.
The control action also involved the main lines of entry of foreign products and goods. In the lagoon port area, the II Group of Venice, following targeted risk analyzes, carried out checks together with the Customs, doctor who allowed the seizure of about 4,000 pairs of footwear bearing the false indication of “Made in Italy” and the identification of an additional 50,000 textile products contained in a vehicle entering from Greece without any indication showing the identity and contact details of the manufacturer and without any type of information to protect the consumer. Also at the “Marco Polo” airport, the Tessera financiers, together with officials of the local Customs SOT, have seized over 2,000 fake clothing of well-known brands from the Far East by air courier, divided into 17 different shipments. And again at the airport, jewels with glass beads with false labels affixed to certify the Italian production and the “Murano Glass” brand were seized at the entrance, with the aim of replicating the characteristics of the true “Venetian jewel”.
As part of the same intensification, the “green berets” of the Ready Employment Company completed the control device on the road, stopping a van with a Romanian license plate that was carrying several hundred articles of costume jewelery with the indication “Made in Italy”, in arrival from Romania and with final destination a company from the province of Venice. Finally, also in the province, last week, they were seized by the financiers of the II Metropolitan Operational Unit of Mestre 75,000 products (accessories, jewelry and toys) unsafe with reporting to the Chamber of Commerce for the imposition of the related sanctions. The device implemented has the purpose of protecting the legal economic fabric of Venice, by contrasting a series of illegal phenomena whose diffusion throughout the territory is closely linked to the particular tourist demand.
