Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Marcel Octaaf Denis (57).

“Why Scuba Diving Is Antisocial. That’s the name of my latest book. It became a collection of short stories that have absolutely nothing to do with deep sea diving. It may already be my third book.”
“I used to draw a lot, but then I ended up with a writers group. There we make texts against a deadline. I have compiled these stories into a book myself. That’s what I’m trying to convey now. Writing is fun, but selling is hard. Nor can I find a publisher willing to publish the book. I can’t get in anywhere. That is why I have myself printed in a copy center. I would love for my books to be read.”
“It is exactly summer today. Then I like to go outside and lie quietly in the grass. I don’t have a garden, so the park is perfect. I mainly work evenings and nights, so I have to rest during the day. Preferably outside. I have to stop working at night because my daily rhythm has to comply with it. I have not yet found a proper writing rhythm.”
