Ukraine has applied for the European Karate Championship 2026
Previously, Ukraine has never held a competition of the appropriate level in this sport.
Ukraine wants to host the 2026 European Karate Championship and has already submitted an application. Reports about it Karate Federation of Ukraine.
On the eve of the start of the World Championships, which began in Dubai, UAE, took place in the executive committee of the World Karate Federation (WKF). In our Ukraine, it has officially stated that it is ready to hold the European Championship among adults in five years.
According to UFC, the president of WKF, the Spaniard Antonio Espinos, “responded positively to the appeal.”

The European Continental Karate Championship is held annually in May. By 2026, four European Championships are planned, for which the hosts have already been determined:
- 2022 – Turkey (Gaziantep)
- 2023 – Russia
- 2024 – Croatia (Split)
- 2025 – Azerbaijan (Baku)
European Championships since 1966: The first host of the competition was Paris.

What is known
- Ukraine has never hosted adult European champions in karate or competitions of the appropriate level in this sport.
- Ukraine regularly hosts international karate tournaments such as the Lviv Karate Open, Kharkiv Open, Chernivtsi Open, Sen Bin Cup Karate Open, Black Sea Cup, etc.
- At the last European Karate Championship in 2021, the national team of Ukraine won four medals, including “gold” won by Stanislav Goruna. He and Angelika Terliuga became vice-champions of the 2020 Olympic Games, which were the first and last for karate (this sport was recognized from the Olympic programs).
- In 2021, Ukraine hosted the European Badminton Championships, which took place in April-May in Kyiv, and last year the capital hosted the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.
