Sweden Food Pantry’s volunteers pick apples at Pietree Orchard
SWEDEN – Board members and friends of Sweden Food Pantry received a call from the gardener at Pietree on November 1 that apple picking could take place on Tuesday afternoon between 13 and 16.
A team from Sweden arrived at the orchard at 1 p.m., including CEO Linda Bradley, board members Miriam Gibely and Nancy Michaud, and friends of the Dell Foss and Susan Ware pantry.
Bradley said: “These women were fantastic. We picked 250 pounds of Cortlands, Bonkers and Crimpson Crisp. Thank you, Pietree. It was a beautiful day for apple picking. The next day was frost,” according to a press release from the food pantry.
