Sncf Voyages Italia celebrates 10 years of TGV on the Paris-Milan line
By consolidating its ambitions to assert itself as a leading operator in sustainable mobility, Sncf Voyages Italia is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Paris-Milan TGV. The opportunity to inaugurate a new customer area, launch a flash promotion, and develop new projects on track.
Ten years have passed since the departure of the first TGV 9240 which left in 2011 to run on the Paris-Turin-Milan line. To take advantage of this first decade, the railway company inaugurated on October 15 a brand new space inside Garibaldi Station in Milan (at the end of platform n ° 1) to get closer to its customers. As a bonus, the railway company is launching a flash promotion to travel on TGV INOUI from 10 euros in second class. Tickets are on sale until November 18 (on the Oui.sncf website and at Sncf Travel Agencies) for travel valid between December 1, 2021 and May 16, 2022.
“High speed, low carbon”
“In 10 years, we have represented a real link between France and Italy. We made 20,000 trains travel and transported 6 million people for a total of 17 million kilometers., commented Jean-Baptiste Guenot, Europe and international development director of SNCF. A choice of travel which has notably contributed to the protection of the environment, by saving 1.4 million tonnes of CO2 since 2011. “Choosing the train means emitting 50 times less CO₂ emissions compared to the car and 80 less compared to the plane”, recalls Jean-Baptiste Guenot.
The renovated TGV INOUI
In addition to the attention paid to the carbon impact, “Punctuality, safety, relaxation and comfort are the strengths of our offer”, adds Jean-Baptiste Guenot.
As such, the TGV INOUI trainsets have recently been renovated to optimize comfort, from the quality of the reinforced seats to the installation of electrical outlets in first and second class, up to offering free and unlimited access to wifi. during the whole trip. “The attention for the customer and for the quality that we present for us essential desires not only to confirm but also to increase the values”, says Jean-François Ancora, Managing Director of Sncf Voyages Italia.
The new TGV INOUI – made up of 8 cars (three first class, four second and a bar car) – display, in Italian and French, the essential messages of this sustainable means of transport: “Thank you for choosing us, to together emit less CO₂” and “High speed, low carbon”.
Today, three daily round trips rest Paris (Gare de Lyon) -Turin and Milan (Porta Garibaldi), in 5:30 to Turin and 7:10 to cover the approximately 850 kilometers to Milan.
New services on the horizon in Italy
And Sncf Voyages Italia plans to develop its services on other lines in Italy. Last week, the railway company made a first scouting trip on the Milan Porta Garibaldi – Ventimiglia line (passing notably through Pavia, Voghera and Genoa). A project that we confirm the general manager of Sncf Voyages Italia: “Between these two destinations, car traffic is very important by road. Faithful to what we have to do, namely to carry out a report of the road traffic towards the train, this project finds its direction ”, explains Jean-François Ancora. And remember that 2.5 million cars pass each year between France and Italy through the Mont-Blanc and Fréjus tunnels.
