Genoa, champagne thief who plundered restaurants stopped
Genoa – It had become the nightmare of some Genoese restaurants that he “visited” to steal precious and expensive bottles of champagne.
Yesterday, the Genoa State Police carried out a precautionary custody order in prison against a 26-year-old pluri-judged person responsible for 3 aggravated thefts in commercial establishments, of which one and two consumed against the same premises.
The investigations, conducted by the police of the Prè Commissariat, originated from the reports of theft presented by the owners of two restaurants located in Molo Ponte Morosini last March, one of which, the most unfortunate, even suffered two blows within a few days and, on both occasions, he complained about the shortage of numerous cases of fine wine and several bottles of champagne, a PC and a printer occasion, for an estimated value of over 10,000 euros, without considering the damage caused to the premises.
Thanks to the analysis of the video surveillance cameras, it emerged that the 26-year-old, a subject known to investigators for his previous crimes against property, was prowling near restaurants during the hours in which the thefts were committed. The inspection by the scientific police was also decisive, which found footprints of the 26-year-old on both crime scenes, particularly in places not accessible to the public.
All the elements collected have brought to light serious indications of guilt against the young man who since last March 17, has been detained in prison following arrest in flagrant for another theft.
Yesterday, the policemen of the Prè Commissariat notified him of the measure that will certainly extend his stay at the prison.
