This is stated in a communique following a telephone conversation between the heads of state, distributed on Tuesday by the Elysee Palace.
“The leaders of the two countries agreed to cooperate in order to de-escalate the migration crisis, prevent the growth of tensions in the energy supply and involve the UN High Commissioner for humanitarian aid,” the document says.
The Elysee Palace also reported that Macron expressed “deep concern” about migration flows on the Polish-Belarusian border. The French president asked his Russian counterpart “to use influence over Belarus and put an end to this acute humanitarian crisis.”
