“You are the pride of Portugal”: Marcelo says the military’s reputation “remains intact”
The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, reaffirmed this Tuesday, at the farewell of the Portuguese military contingent leaving for a mission in the Central African Republic, that his reputation “remains intact” and emphasizes the “pride” of the Portuguese towards the military.
“One, two, three, four, ten cases that occur and that will be punished exemplarily are not Portuguese military personnel on international missions”, began by saying the head of state, install himself to the military, in Figo Maduro.
Recalling that about 2,000 Portuguese soldiers are “on consecutive missions” in the Central African Republic, Marcelo reinforced that the Armed Forces’ reputation “remains intact”, being “the result of years of dedication by our Armed Forces, of decades of dedication by our Armed Forces Armed Forces, from centuries of dedication of our Armed Forces”.
“All of them, from the Army, but also from the Air Force, from excellent units, such as those that integrate the branches and that are available for this joint force”, he enumerated, creating that “this was how Portugal was founded”.
The head of state known the speech with “three very simple words”, assuring that “all Portuguese feel”.
“I feel with pride, the pride I have as President of the Portuguese Republic and as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces in all of you. You are the pride of Portugal”, he stressed.
