When time shows … – Brno daily
Lockdown for the unvaccinated in Austria has begun. Apart from trips to work, schools, shopping or fresh air, I can’t go anywhere. The government is beating its breasts and praising how the vaccination curve of the adult population is rising after the introduction of new measures. The media was flooded with photos of long lines of people waiting in front of vaccination buses for their first dose.
Florida in the United States of America then seems to be the absolute opposite and a fictional story from a sci-fi film. Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has been demanding since May this year that there is no need to keep people locked up at home and control them. Of course, the politicians of this sunny state provide people with instructions and recommendations on how to behave during a pandemic. However, whether they are vaccinated, wear respirators indoors, or side with companies is entirely at their discretion. Tests are available free of charge for both vaccinated and non-vaccinated. It goes without saying that when asked whether or not he is vaccinated, a person chooses the option: I do not want to answer.
Which of the paths is the right one in the long run will probably be revealed. In the same way, only time will tell in which direction the Czech Republic will finally go with the incoming government. However, the probable candidate for the Minister of Health, Vlastimil Válek, announced in an interview for Saturday’s Daily Rovnost that the Together coalition insists that vaccination is not mandatory.
What is certain, however, is that it will be necessary to take steps that would not exacerbate the divisions in society.
