The political scientist assessed the likelihood of Russia’s exclusion from international organizations: Politics: Russia: Lenta.ru
Political scientist Pavel Salin, in a conversation with Lenta.ru, appreciated Poland’s call to exclude Russia from international organizations and remove it from sports competitions.
Earlier, a similar measure against the background of the refugee crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Robert Glinsky, whose statement published Polska Times edition.
According to Salin, Poland’s statement is a demonstration of the whip from the outside. “Most likely, the West is trying to play the same combination that Russia is playing in relation to it in the case of the migration crisis. That is, there is a frontman of the migration crisis, on whom all accusations are poured – this is Belarus, and there is a player who largely influences the actions of this frontman – this is Russia. The West is now trying to build a mirror image of such a two-part combination. That is, there is a player who proposes radical measures, in the person of Poland, and there are those players who act as a deterrent-negotiating instance, as Russia is now acting in relation to Belarus. Western countries probably expect to act as the same authority in relation to Poland, ”the political scientist believes.
Salin is trying to use Poland’s statement in negotiations with Russia to resolve the migration crisis. In his opinion, Russia does not dare to exclude from international organizations and remove from sports competitions, as “the Russian leadership demonstrates that, of course, the opinion of the West is important to it, but it does not react to symbolic moments, it only reacts to the fulfillment of financial and economic” restrictions, but here it doesn’t smell like them. “
The migration crisis unfolded on November 8, when several thousand people approached Poland from the Belarusian side against the backdrop of a statement by leader Alexander Lukashenko about the weakening of Belarusian control over the border. Refugees do not leave the border zone; some have tried to enter the territory of Poland, breaking the barbed wire fence.
