Rainbow Six Siege Sweden Major Playday 2
Rainbow Six Siege Sweden Major has finished its second day of play in the group stage. The 16 participating teams will be divided into four groups and they will play in double round-robin group format. Only two teams from each group will qualify for the playoffs.
Team Empire vs. DAMWON Gaming
This match was played on Coastline, which is a map that favors teams with aggressive playing style. DWG started on the attack and their first round was pretty good. DWG attacked from all sides of the map. They had players on the Hookah Balcony, Aquarium, VIP and Big Window to cover all angles. DWG just rushed in from all angles and that made it difficult for Empire to keep crossfire. DWG got entry kills and planted the defuser to win the first round.
In the fourth round, DWG tried exactly the same push. But they failed this time because Empire learned from their past mistakes. Empire successfully countered the DWG’s rush, winning the round and ending the first half 5-1.
After the change of sides, Empire continued to play well and carried the momentum from the first half. The final round was played at Penthouse, which is a really difficult place to defend. DWG believed that a change to another bombing site would cause Empire to get caught. However, the Empire was prepared and pushed from the north side of the coastline and kept only angles into the theater. Empire kept control of the map and began planting the defuser. Then Empire’s Danil “JoyStiCK” Gabov entered the scene and killed the remaining defender to win the round. Empire won the match 7-2.
This was an important win for Empire as they will have a chance to make it to the playoffs if they win a few more matches. However, DWG are pretty safe as they have won more matches in the group stage.
