the essentials in brief
- Train traffic between Lausanne and Geneva remains restricted.
- Instead of six, there are still only four trains per hour and direction.
Rail traffic between Lausanne and Geneva will be restricted at least until Sunday, November 21. Instead of six, there are still only four trains per hour and direction. After geological investigations, the SBB must further stabilize the embankment in Tolochenaz.
Only after this stabilization can the trains run faster again, as the SBB announced on Sunday evening. At the point of damage they are currently allowed to drive a maximum of 20 km / h.
This severely limits the capacity on the east-west axis in French-speaking Switzerland. This means that only two Regioexpress and two Interregio trains run instead of six per hour as provided in the timetable.
Consult the online timetable
The Intercity trains, which provide a direct connection between Geneva and Lausanne, are canceled until at least next Sunday. The replacement bus service between Morges VD and Allaman VD will be maintained.
The SBB bit travelers to refrain from unnecessary trips during rush hour. They also advise their customers to consult the online timetable one and a half hours before departure.
Tuesday as the original destination
Originally, the SBB had hoped to return to normal speed on Tuesday. Rail traffic on the route was completely interrupted between Tuesday evening last week and Friday morning.
The lowering of the track in Tolochenaz VD is due to the work of a third party. This had laid a pipe about ten meters below the level crossing. Last week around 60 people worked in shifts around the clock at the damage site. They stabilized the soil with injections and stakes.
