LOOK: Laying the tracks has started on the new tram line in Prague
“In the section near Holyně, we have already laid about 150 m of rails on the track in the direction of the center, on the second we started today with the installation of concrete sleepers. At the opposite end, at the Sídliště Barrandov loop, we are working on the base layers of the tramway body, so that we can start laying the sleepers and rails first, “said the head of the communication department of Dopravní podnik hl. m Prague Daniel Sabik.
In the middle part of the track, in the area of the future Olga Scheinpflug Square, the builders are currently finishing drainage work.
Construction of the tram line began in June. Later, the second stage will follow it up to Sliven. It measures one kilometer. The total cost is 169 million crowns.
The new line from the Barrandov Housing Estate loop will continue along Werichova Street to the intersection of Miloš Havla and Baarová Streets. Here it turns in a southwesterly direction to the planned Nataši Gollová Street, which will lead to the future Olga Scheinpflugová Square, where DPP will build the first stop in Kaskády. The track surface will be grassed only after the Kaskády stop, the track in the area of the stops will be paved.
The preparation of the construction took 14 years. It is created simultaneously with development projects in the area. As part of the construction of the 2nd stage of Holyně – Slivenec, DPP will build a tram loop in Slivenec.
