Corona incidence of the unvaccinated in Salzburg three and a half times as high
31 Covid patients have to be cared for in the intensive care unit – 77.4 percent of them are unvaccinated. The vaccination rate differs greatly from municipality to municipality. Most of the residents in Dienten have been vaccinated, very few in St. Koloman. More than 3000 appointments are still free in the vaccination streets.
“The corona vaccination is working. The 7-day incidence is 836 among the fully immunized. It is three and a half times as high among the unvaccinated at 2933,” says Gernot Filipp, the head of state statistics. There is a sad record in bed occupancy: 31 Covid-19 patients when and as of Monday at 8:30 a.m. are cared for in the intensive care unit. There have never been so many this year – 77.4 percent of them are not vaccinated.
St. Koloman and Krispl with the lowest vaccination rates
The vaccination coverage differs greatly among Salzburg’s municipalities and sometimes deviates significantly from the national average of 61.5 percent. It is lowest in the municipality of St. Koloman with 44.8 percent (from Krispl (45.6), Scheffau (48.8), Bad Vigaun51.8) and St. Georgen (51.9). In the general population, Dienten has the best value with 77.5 percent fully immunized, filled by Rauris (72.7), Lend (72.5), Bad Gastein (71.6) and Dorfgastein (71.6).
Incidence is likely to rise to 1700 to 2100 within a week
“The upward trend in hospital stays will be faster in the coming days due to the high number of new infections and the low vaccination rate,” says Gernot Filipps: between 1700 and 2100. “The current incidence in Salzburg is 1484.9 .
Gernot Filipp: “Steep curve since the end of October”
The increase has been clearly noticeable in hospitals since the end of October. “While there were a total of 87 inpatient Covid-19 patients on October 30th, the hundred mark was already clearly exceeded three days later with 115. A week later it was 162 and we are currently facing the 200 mark”, says Filipp.
Comprehensive information about the booster vaccination
After the extensive information campaigns on corona vaccination, another focus is now on booster vaccination. Experts and international studies agree that the protective effect diminishes over time. Therefore, everyone who gets vaccinated by the end of June should get the booster vaccination this year and make an appointment right away. Who can vaccinate, how, when, where and why, that is the content of the comprehensive campaign. You can find these key points continuously and up-to-date at www.salzburg.gv.at as well as with the Land Salzburg app. Anyone who has already been vaccinated and has not yet had their booster vaccination will be informed by SMS, email or letter.
More than 3000 vaccination appointments at the vaccination streets free
You can still pick up your first, second or third dose by making an appointment at an ordination or in Impfstraße. For the latter under www.salzburg-impft.at or by phone at 1450. For this week alone, there are still more than 3000 appointments available at the Impfstraßen. “Our thanks not only go to the Red Cross, but also to the many doctors who are mobilizing all their efforts in relation to the third trick and ensuring that the vaccination rate increases,” say Governor Wilfried Haslauer and Deputy Governor Christian Stöckl.
The vaccination bus is permanently at the Europark
From November 22nd, the vaccination bus will be waiting every day (Monday to Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Europark Salzburg for people from Salzburg who are ready to be vaccinated – regardless of whether it is the first, second or third dose. Biontech is inoculated for everyone over the age of twelve and the Johnson & Johnson Booster for those over the age of 18. All information and opening times: www.salzburg.gv.at/einfachimpfen
