Prague – The resigned Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) is surprised after a meeting with President Miloš Zeman how his health has improved and he is in good condition. He said the president accepted him as a seat. After a half-hour meeting at the Central Military Hospital (ÚVN), journalists were told that it would be frivolous if he accepted the mandate to form a government. He expects Zeman to appoint ODS leader Petr Fiala as the new prime minister. According to him, the president will announce the next steps after the meeting with Fiala, which will take place on Wednesday.
Zeman was transferred from the rehabilitation department to the long-term care bed today, thanks to which the hospital can receive visitors. Babiš was his first guest. He had to adhere to the half-hour scope of the meeting or anti-pandemic regulations.
After the meeting, Babiš said that he was very surprised at how good Zeman was and how his health had improved. “I’m very happy about that,” he said.
He said they were talking about the October parliamentary elections. According to him, Zeman will discuss the next procedure with Fiala on Wednesday. Babiš refused that the president could entrust him with forming a government, as he had originally promised. The outgoing prime minister would find this frivolous, because most of the Spolem and PirSTAN coalitions are clear in the House. He assumes Zeman will appoint Fiala as the new prime minister.
He also talked to Zeman about the coronavirus pandemic. According to the incumbent prime minister, the government is dealing with the situation as if it were in power for the next four years. He has repeatedly promised that the opposition will work with the next government on measures to help protect the people. He reiterated that the only solution is vaccination.
He added that Zeman “normally holds office”, according to him he signed several laws today. He emphasized that the president had accepted him. According to Babiš, compared to October 10, when we saw in Lány, there was an “incredible change” in Zeman’s health.
