Vosges. The merry-go-round for the Gérardmer Christmas market has arrived
On paper, linking the Milan region to Gérardmer is a formality. But the road from the Italian metropolis is much more complicated when it comes to transporting, by truck, a nice merry-go-round 14 meters long. This is the journey started this week by John Selgrad, this Gérômois owner of the famous carousel on Albert-Ferry square.
With his wife, Aurore Balland, he had the idea of having a pretty merry-go-round in the shape of a Christmas tree built for the Gerom Christmas market. It is “the great Gérômois, a majestic and magical Christmas merry-go-round, imagined, customized and designed by John and Aurore, a couple of entrepreneurs from the Vosges”, proudly announce the organizers of the Christmas market, the members of Gérardmer Animation.
There is restlessness among the owners when it comes to riding their big “baby”. And there is a strong expectation among the people of Gérômois who are impatient to discover and climb into the balls of this extraordinary tree.
A house of Santa Claus
You will have to wait until Saturday, November 26, the date of the official opening of the Christmas market. Until then, Jérôme Hirth and Thierry Honoré, joined by other volunteers, spare no time to prepare a nice Christmas market. This week was devoted to the installation of lighting on the Place du Vieux-Gérardmé, with the support of the technical services of the City, but also the assembly of the house of Santa Claus which promises to be sumptuous.
Then comes the phase of setting up chalets and setting up shopkeepers.
Until January 2, the public will find all the fundamentals of the Christmas market, with an enormous entertainment program as well as a village of artisans, under a marquee from December 17.
The merry-go-round will remain installed up to the skier’s village which will take place during the winter holidays. But this time, the balls will be transformed into cable car cabins, with a decor that will highlight the emblematic sites of Gérardmer …
