The goose legs blushed in the ovens on the 13th Martin’s Day Goose Coma in Debrecen. Those who wanted to taste traditional and more special goose dishes waited in long lines, patiently.
We were very curious about the delicious flavors we find here, because we rarely eat geese at home and as an housewife we didn’t have to cook an extra advantage, Tímea Csermelyné Gáspár told Debrecen Television.
The feast did not lack goose leg, onion liver, goose, goose sausage, but visitors could also taste the stuffed cabbage in Debrecen, which now includes goose meat. In three days, the chefs baked and cooked almost three tons of meat.
– I think thighs, sausages and gooseberries are the most popular. These are the three that are running out, pointed out Attila Hollósi, the head of the Barabás Restaurant.
Last year, due to the epidemic situation, the Martin’s Day Goose Coma could not be held, so this year they made up for the fun. Zoltán Barabás, the main organizer of the event, said that the number 13 now brought them good luck.
“Making the goose is a pretty hectic task, few housewives undertake. That’s why this event is also a gap-filling thing, because here you’ll find foods that aren’t made from goose on a day-to-day basis. We dismantle the goose and use all its parts – said Zoltán Barabás.
In addition to food, street musicians provide a good atmosphere. The organizers booked an army of 10,000 people at the 13th-day Goose Coma in the three days.
