For the hosts, checking PCR tests is becoming a double burden in the course of ever new regulations
Frankfurt am Main – The catering and other businesses are still intensely busy with the implementation of the Corona rules. For those who are not vaccinated, the Hessian state government decided on stricter rules since Thursday. You are only allowed to visit places with the 3G regulation with a negative PCR test result. These include “interior areas of events, trade fairs and cultural establishments, leisure facilities, sports facilities, cultural facilities, brothels, casinos and amusement arcades as well as restaurants”.
Business continues in cafes and pubs, while word of the current restrictions is slow to get around. Andreas Stalder, owner of the “Hedwig Coffee House” in the north end of Frankfurt, says: “You lose track of the new regulations.” At the same time, he restricts: “You have little time to inquire.” The 57-year-old is standing at the portafilter machine and brews coffee in chord while he talks. The café is almost full on the early Saturday evening. The 3G regulation applies: Access only for vaccinated, convalescent and tested people.
Gastronomy in Frankfurt: additional personnel expenses
The restaurateur reports that he actually needs another service person for the test. “To do this sensibly, I have the reception and guests at the table at peak times,” says Stalder, turning back to the coffee machine. “Most of them are vaccinated,” reports one of the two waitresses who is waiting for a cappuccino to be served. First of all, a guest showed her a negative test result.
Peter Herrmann has been gilding 2G in his restaurant “Menzza” in Gallus since mid-September. This can be read on a sign on the front door. This means that unvaccinated people have no access anyway. “So many customers are already staying away,” says the 56-year-old. The restaurateur reports that there have not yet been any controls from the city to determine whether the Corona regulations are being implemented, but “in the vicinity”, for example in an ice cream parlor in the district. He often takes the time to explain in detail which rules apply to him. He also promotes vaccination.
New corona rules: Entire birthday parties canceled
Some would answer with incomprehension and sometimes “almost cheeky”. Entire birthday parties canceled him without the 3G regulation. There is one central reason why he chose 2G: “It’s exhausting to walk around wearing a mask all the time while working,” says Herrmann. Mouth and nose protection, for example, fog up glasses all the time. He feels badly informed about new regulations and emphasizes that he hardly has time in the catering business to keep himself up to date.
A betting office on Merianplatz has been checked at the entrance since Thursday so that no one can come in without a vaccination or without a negative test. The employee who is checking does not want to comment, but mentions that the regulations mean that a large number of guests have to be turned away. Three men standing in front of it declare that they have all been vaccinated. (Clemens Dörrenberg)
