Corona news: 2182 new infections in Brabant, more than 12,000 in the Netherlands
Between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, 12,052 positive corona tests were registered. That figure may be biased. GGD GHOR Nederland was delayed on Saturday in transmitting test results to the National Institute for Public Health for the Environment (RIVM).
The delay was due to a surcharge at a supplier of the GGDs. That storage was also possibly visible in the daily figures in the days.
The number of 12,052 is slightly lower than the days, but for a Sunday it is particularly high. Since the start of the epidemic, there has only been one Sunday with more positive tests: December 20 last year. On that day, RIVM reported just under 13,000 new cases. Until this week, that was the daily record for the Netherlands.
If the number of positive tests is higher than the previous one, it continues to grow. In the past seven days, RIVM reported 94,252 positive tests, an average of 13,465 per day. That’s a new record.
It returns for the 45th consecutive day. The last time it went uninterrupted for that long was in September and October last year, at the start of the second wave. Then the story 57 days in a row.
