Salzburg dealers see the lockdown controls for unvaccinated persons as practically impossible from Monday. It is clear to the dealers that they cannot take over the controls; the police have to do that. In addition, retailers fear massive losses in sales.
The Chamber of Commerce has already announced claims for damages to the federal government. Landlords check their guests themselves as soon as they enter the inn. The same applies to cultural or sporting events.
Access controls are nowhere possible in retail, but impossible to carry out through the companies, the President of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce, Peter Buchmüller, clearly.
“That must not get stuck in the companies”
“That cannot and must not get stuck with the companies, but the state has to do it for the companies. There have to be random samples, but when, when & the companies are left out, ”says Buchmüller.
According to the announcements by the federal government, the lockdown for unvaccinated people is to be checked by the police at least on a random basis from Monday. Whether the companies are also required to carry out the controls will only be clear when the regulation is available on Sunday.
Unvaccinated people fail as customers for the trade
On the other hand, it is already clear that the approximately 35 percent of the population who are currently not vaccinated will be absent from the companies as customers. Buchmüller is demanding compensation for this.
“This means that retailers and, of course, all other businesses are missing 35 percent of their purchasing power. That hurts and here we of course need compensation for the companies, which this time also have to be processed quickly and unbureaucratically, ”demands Buchmüller.
