PARIS, November 14 – RIA Novosti. Russia will not allow President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to implement threats to cut off gas through the country to Europe, EU diplomacy Josep Borrell believes. “Lukashenko put 35 thousand people in prison. He would have done it, but the Russians did not do it to him because they sell gas,” Borrell said in an interview with France 24. Lukashenko recalled that theoretically Lukashenko could give an order to cut off Russian gas to Europe. Although recently the volume of gas transit from Russia to the West has increased significantly, this would be a violation of the transit contract, cause great damage to the EU’s energy sector and will not be an organism for the development of relations between the Russian Federation and Belarus.
