Pau eliminated by Canet-en-Roussillon, Quevilly-Rouen and Bastia qualified
The seventh round of the Coupe de France continued, this Saturday evening, with new teams from Ligue 2 who entered the competition. Opposed to Canet-en-Roussillon, National 2 club and executioner of OM last season, Pau (L2) started his meeting perfectly. After Samuel Essende’s opener (0-1, 12th), David Gomis doubled down (0-2, 29th) but the locals did not abdicate. Author of a double (40th, 64th), Toufik Ouadoudi allows his family to hang a decisive shooting session. In this game, the Canétois, quarter-finalist last season, again achieved the feat (2-2, 3-2 at the tabs) to clinch a prestigious qualification. Pau, eighth in Ligue 2, saw his epic stop early.
For its part, facing AS Etaples, amateur club of Regional 2, Quevilly-Rouen did not tremble. After Ottman Dadoune opened the scoring from the penalty spot (0-1, 24th), Bridge Ndilu doubled the bet (0-2, 38th). Despite the reduction in the score of the locals after returning from the locker room through Legal (1-2, 53rd), Duckens Nazon gave air to his family (1-3, 66th) and allows the Normans to qualify for the continuation of the competition. A beautiful poster while finally waiting for the public at the Jean-Manfredi stadium. After having faced in the past teams from Nationale 1, Vannes, Concarneau and Stade Briochin in 2020, the Fougères club had to take an additional step by facing Bastia, resident of Ligue 2. The players of Pierre-Yves David had thus for ambition to thwart the forecasts vis-a-vis those of Régis Brouard but three divisions separated the two formations and the difference was going to be accepted. After Anthony Robic’s opener (0-1, 66th), Sébastien Salles Lamonge break to the Corsicans to do the (0-2, 85th) and thus secure a place for the next round.
