Monaco and the Barbarians in the Supersevens final
The semi-finals of the In Extenso Supersevens did not deliver any surprises at the Paris Défense Arena. Monaco Sevens and the Baabaas Sevens, both invited at the start of the competition and qualified for the last stage this Saturday, have mastered their subject.
The formation of the principality, offered by Cecil Afrika or Dan Norton, had Racing 92 Sevens (21-10). For their part, the Baabaas Sevens largely beat the Section Paloise Béarn Pyrénées (19-40).
The logic expected before these halves is therefore respected. The knowledge of rugby sevens prevailed over the playing intentions of Racing and Pau. In the first match, Teddy Thomas went well with his try for the Parisians, but Monaco scored three times, transforming at each mark. South African Cecil Afrika was the detonator and organizer of the Monegasque game. His science of passing and shifting, like finding spaces, will have to be watched like milk on fire by the Baabaas in the final.
Joachim Trouabal should finish top scorer in the competition
Because the other duel of the halfs quickly ended. Losing Mathias Colombet on the kickoff, Pau suffered the waves of the Barbarians. The presence of the holders of France 7 will have weighed heavily, too heavy in the balance against the Pau. Joachim Trouabal scored a brace which brings his total of tries to six: the 21-year-old international has canes of madness, and makes them speak as soon as the slightest space opens up to him.
For the Section, Antoine Hastoy will have been the most prominent, with several breakthroughs of which he has the secret. Rayne Barka carried the ball and advanced, but the Barbarians were simply unplayable. What gives a spectacular and intense final between Monaco and the Baabaas … Between specialists of the 7!
