That was all of the trap match. Leader of Ligue 2, the Toulouse football club faced the FC Libourne, National 3 club, for his entry into the running in French Cup.
Toulouse uninspired
Faced with a supposedly weaker opponent, the coach of the Violets, Philippe Montanier, had chosen to broadly reshuffle your team.
If three divisions apart separated them, the Toulousains – little inspired – yet had all the trouble in the world to get rid of solid and catchy Libournais. Unable to take the advantage during regulation time (0-0), the Toulouse then had to play their qualification during a shooting session which was rich in emotions.
The Pettersson show
Toulouse then relied on their Swedish goalkeeper Isak Pettersson (usual lining of Maxime Dupé), who managed the feat of stopping three shots on goal during a spectacular corn shootout.
A rare performance which allows Toulouse to ensure the essentials and to qualify (in pain) for the next round of the Coupe de France.
The Violets win on penalties, thanks to a huge Isak Pettersson author of three saves!
The adventure fr @French Cup continue, but a very big thumbs up to @FCLibourne which made the task more than difficult for us 👏#FCLTFC pic.twitter.com/WVScelZE83
