The elderly and vulnerable are often the preferred targets of unscrupulous individuals. The residents of two nursing homes in Toulouse and Colomiers (Haute-Garonne) have had a bitter experience. As the report The Dispatch, in mid-September, the management of a Toulouse retirement home lodged a complaint after having observed in recent weeks an accumulation of “disappearances” of objects in the rooms of residents. A complaint has been filed.
In the viewfinder of the direction: a temporary employee, who had access to the rooms of the residents, aged 65 to 90 years, “and especially dependent”, specifies a source close to the file in the regional daily. Investigations by Toulouse police officers from the Left Bank property damage unit were published on a famous online sales site. Several jewels stolen from the residents were offered for sale by the suspected temporary worker and one of his relatives.

The police also discovered that the employee had also cracked down on another nursing home, in Colomiers, where she also worked. Arrested Tuesday, November 9, she was taken into custody and admitted the facts. If six thefts have been confirmed in these two establishments, around fifty advertisements for jewelry have been posted by the suspect, continue La Dépêche. Investigators will therefore continue their investigations to try to identify other potential victims. As for the former employee, she is summoned to court as part of a so-called “plead guilty” procedure.
