The giant pendulum of architect Josef Pleskot moved from Prague to Ostrava
“Pleskot’s ten-meter, about two-tonne pendulum was originally located in the Church of the Blessed Savior in Prague. Now this original work has just moved to Gong in Dolní Vítkovice, “she said. The object is a tribute to the technical skills of man. According to Josef Pleskot, both restlessness and calm human energy can be put into it.
For the first time, the artifact will be set in motion on November 17 during an all-day composed program that Dolní Vítkovice prepared for the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy. The work is set directly by its author. “If you like emotional architectural deeds, you will find something from 14:00. At that time, the internationally renowned architect Josef Pleskot in the Pendulum, Mathematics and Emotions program will move a unique giant pendulum that connects art, architecture, science and technology, “said Kijonková.
Architect Pleskot runs his own architectural office AP ateliér. He received a number of awards for his realization and more significantly on the transformation of Ostrava. According to his designs, for example, the Gong Multifunctional Hall was revitalized, the World of Technology, the Bolt Tower, the Heligonka building or the Agricultural Museum in the Lower Vítkovice area (DOV) were built. He is currently working on a bridge project across the Ostravice River, which will connect the city center with the Dolní Vítkovice complex next year. He is also the author of the as yet unrealized extension of the Gallery of Fine Arts under the title White Shadow in the city center.
