San Marino. European Area for Higher Education, the meetings concluded
“Great satisfaction from both the San Marino side and the European delegation of the Bologna Process for the results obtained during the meeting held at Palazzo Begni on 10 and 11 November.
The confrontation between the two delegations – reads a note – is part of the path following the access of San Marino to the European Area for Higher Education (EHEA) a year ago and which has as its final goal that of bringing San Marino and his University to achieve the required objectives. In this phase of work and evaluation of the process undertaken, European authorities are very pleased with the work of San Marino in the face of the indications of the Bologna Follow Up Group.
Particularly relevant during the meeting were the interventions of the Rector of the University of San Marino, Corrado Petrocelli, of Professor Guido Capaldo and of two student representatives who with their timely and precise testimony highlighted the strengths and dynamics of the San Marino Athen.
Central themes of the meeting were the in-depth analysis of the national qualifications framework and quality assurance. Thanks to the presentations from Liechtenstein, Andorra and Vatican City it is also possible to observe the setting of the data from these microstates to their national frameworks, while the question of quality assurance was addressed by Professor Guido Capaldo and Dr. Maria Kelo , President of the European Association for Quality Assurance for Higher Education.
Fundamental was the contribution of the Director of the Department of Education of the Council of Europe, Sjur Bergan, both in reference to the national and European framework of qualifications and to university autonomy. This latter theme is also particularly felt by the Rector Petrocelli, who in this regard hopes for a revision of the 2014 law on the University by 2022.
The two delegations will meet again (this time online) in March 2022 to check the progress of the work. While the San Marino delegation on 1 and 2 December will speak at the online meeting of the Bologna Follow Up Group to present to all the members of the Bologna Process the neglected work for the construction of the national qualifications framework of San Marino “.
