Rome pedal come New York. Oh almost …
Rome it is a fortunate, invincible and eternal city, argued Tito Livio. On the one hand, the whole world envies the beauties of our capital. On the other hand, however, Rome is also there traffic capital: according to Global Index Scoreboard, in 2018 the Eternal City was the second most congested metropolis in the world. It would certainly be possible to make Rome more beautiful by completing the Grande Raccordo Anulare delle Bici, the Grab.
I’ll tell you about the #GreenHeroes
by Alessandro Gassmann
The infrastructure, designed by Velolove and together with many other associations, such as Legambiente and Touring Club, is a cycle path almost 50 kilometers long that should circumnavigate the city connecting the suburbs with the center and, between them, many neighborhoods. A project that has participated in urban regeneration in the pipeline for six years remained unfinished. According to the organizers, it will be built in time for the 2025 Jubilee.
Imagine if Rome had the Grab
by ALESSANDRO GASSMANN
The promoters of the Grab had already been awarded by us as #GreenHeroes at the time, but a novelty requires us to call them again: the almost Roman project and that of the New York High Line, the elevated walkway that replaced a disused railway line in the Big Apple. A project that represents a new way of managing metropolitan space, in line with the boom in active mobility. The High Line generates 8 million visitors every year, one million more than the Colosseum. Confindustria estimates that, in a “normal” period, at least 600,000 foreign tourists every year could extend their Roman holiday on a bike, generating revenues of 50 million euros with 100% Grab. A benefit for smaller companies. If this dream comes true, Rome could win the challenge of the city of 15 minutes, and keep up with the other great European capitals. Hurray me #GreenHeroes of the GRAB!
