Prague deputies approved the abolition of the Svojšice Home for the Mentally Handicapped Company News Pražská Drbna
The Prague contributory organization Domov Svojšice will have a new name, namely the Center of Community Services For Life. Approved by the Prague City Council yesterday. The municipality wants to move the clients of the home for people with chronic mental illness and disability to accommodation in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. A new use is now being sought for a Baroque chateau in a Central Bohemian village. This was stated by Councilor Milena Johnová (Prague Sobě) at the council meeting.
“The name of the Community Services Center is because today the services provided by the organization are intimate,” said John, who is responsible for social policy and health care in the metropolis.
According to Johnová, the castle building in Svojšice is in poor technical condition. The councilor mentioned the unsatisfactory condition of the wiring and wiring. The facade, eaves and windows, among other things, are in poor condition. According to the councilor, the internal dispositions for housing are also inappropriately arranged, which makes the chateau an object unsuitable for providing social services. The rooms in the castle were multi-bed and interconnected, so clients did not have enough privacy, she added.
The metropolis will now negotiate with the Central Bohemian Region whether it is interested in the chateau. This was stated earlier by the Prague councilor for property Jan Chabr (TOP 09). According to him, the sale of real estate is also possible. According to Johnová, the building was previously offered to trade unions at the Prague City Hall and the organization of the capital. According to the councilors, they are not interested in the chateau complex, as he informed today.
Prague is gradually looking for community-type housing or apartments with a care service for client facilities. People should find new homes in the capital or in the Central Bohemian Region, where, according to councilors, they may want to stay. According to John’s earlier statement, the Svojšice home had about 100 clients. Some of them have already acquired a new residence.
In 2019, a financial audit was carried out at the Svojšice Home. He discovered the mistake and the city dismissed the then director Vítězslav Forman. Martin Kahánek replaced him. The home offered social services to adults over the age of 19. He offered housing to clients who, due to their mental or mental disability, require regular help from other people. The services were intended for people with old age and other types of dementia. According to the charter, similar services will also be offered by the new organization Centrum služebních služeb Pro život, which will also provide its clients with personal assistance.
