True sea serpent, the Bordeaux-Toulouse high-speed line (LGV) occupies public debates For years.
Recently, the media release of Pierre Hurmic made the political class react. The mayor (EELV) of Bordeaux announced the launch ofalternativelgv.fr, and hammered home his intention to ” do everything possible to stop this project madness that is the LGV ”.
His remarks were widely commented on, in particular by Carole Delga. The president of the Occitanie regional council denounced the “egoism” of the mayor of Bordeaux. In this region, a common front is committed to the LGV.
In this story, not everything is settled yet. Indeed, Departments were asked to participate in the financing of the LGV. The Great South West Project, which everyone calls GPSO, has a total estimated cost of 14.3 billion euros; including 10.3 billion for the LGV Bordeaux – Toulouse and 4 billion for the Bordeaux-Dax line, 2nd stage of the rocket.
To finance the LGV, the state announced last April that it would participate up to 40%, or around 4 billion euros. Local authorities must provide 40% of the funding and the European Union 20%.
Raising so much money by soliciting so many actors is far from being a trivial matter. If in the Occitanie region the question is relatively clear, in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, it is not the same music; some elected officials are fiercely opposed to this LGV. This sometimes gives rise to lively discussions.
Lot-et-Garonne refuses to pay for the LGV
Recently, the Lot-et-Garonne, through the voice of its president, Sophie Borderie, found its refusal. In The Republican, the elected explained: “Of the 120 million euros needed, it would have been necessary to involve the Lot-et-Garonnais. And today is really not the time. “
Meeting in Gironde, November 22
But what about the Gironde? The departmental council must, for its part, decide on this file by the end of the month. When ? Very precisely on Monday, November 22, 2021, during a session devoted to the debate on budgetary guidelines.
Jean-Luc Gleyze, president, does not wish to react publicly to the statements of Pierre Hurmic. The departmental councilor of the Sud-Gironde canton has always been opposed to the project.
But his responsibilities as chairman of the Department require him to wait “for the right moment” before speaking; this in order to avoid any interpretation of his words. “The official position is being built,” he said. We have been working on this file for several weeks now. “Verdict, therefore, November 22 … That day, many eyes will be on the Gironde departmental council.
