Finalist of the Champions League 2018 with AS Monaco, Damjan Rudez says stop
Seen in the Netherlands last year, light years away from the levels he had previously experienced (146 NBA appearances and two EuroLeague campaigns), Damjan Rudez (35) formalized his retirement Thursday evening. He thus ends on a season spent under the orders of his brother, Ivan, trainer in Groningen.
It’s time to retire from the game that gave me everything. I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart all those who have been part of this long and beautiful journey with me.

The Croatian international, selected for the 2008 Olympics, made a small detour by France during his long career. It was in 2018, on the side of AS Monaco, where he signed up the day after the Leaders Cup 2018 as a medical freelance writer for Amara Sy. But his impact had been quite limited (7.2 points at 45%, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists) and the native of Zagreb had not enriched his record with a new trophy, playing for example only ‘a single minute of the BCL final lost on the wire against AEK Athens (94-100).
Champion of Belgium, Slovenia and Croatia, Damjan Rudez notably wore the colors of Indiana, Orlando and Minnesota between 2014 and 2017.
