Energy pressures Lisbon stock market to open lower – O Jornal Económico
The Portuguese stock market opened as of this Friday in negative territory. The main Portuguese stock index (PSI 20) is devaluing 0.05%, to 5,704.60 points.
Among the listed companies that are putting pressure on the PSI20 are the energy sector. A Greenvolt loses 2.07% to 6.64 euros, a Semapa drops 1.13% to 12.24 euros, a Galp slides 0.72% to 8.88 euros, a REN drops 0.80% to 2.48 euros and EDP lost 0.46% to 4.75 euros. BCP retreats 0.81% to 0.16 euros.
Conversely, Sonae gains 2.18% for 1.03 euros, while Jerónimo Martins stands out with 0.73% for 20.83 euros. Thus, as Portuguese retailers they are among those quoted with the biggest rises at the opening of the session.
It is followed by Corticeira Amorim, which grows 0.34% to 11.78 euros, and EDP Renováveis, which adds 0.18% to 22.72 euros.
As main European counterparts they are negotiating on mixed terrain. The German DAX appreciated 0.06%, the French CAC 40 gained 0.19%, the British FTSE 100 dropped 0.28%, the Spanish dropped 0.26% and the Italian lost 0.06%. Euro Stoxx opens a session to rise 0.03% to 4,359.25 points.
In the oil market, the barrel of Brent lost 0.58% to 82.39 dollars, while the WTI devalued 0.59% to 81.11 dollars.
Without the foreign exchange market, the euro lost 0.04% against the dollar, to $1.1445, and the pound sterling gained 0.08% to $1.3382.
