Electric vehicle sales hit new record
There is no longer any doubt that the Portuguese are strongly joining the purchase of electric cars. Rising prices from price prices may be one of the reasons, but there are also variables such as apparently lower support and consumption that can help at the moment of decision.
According to recent information, October was the month with the highest number of sales of electric + hybrid cars.
More than 3000 electric vehicles sold in Portugal in October...
New monthly high for the year 2021 reached in October! The 3,000 electric vehicle threshold was surpassed with 3,049 electrified vehicles sold last month (1,715 100% electric vehicles and 1,334 plug-in hybrid vehicles), revealing the Association of Electric Vehicle Users (UVE)
The total number of electric vehicles sold since January 2021 - 22,722 - has already surpassed the total value of the year 2020, which was 20,0004. In other words, two months before the year 2021, a new record is finished!
UVE considers that the last quarter will consolidate the timid start of sales in the first two months of the year. The trend is clear and growing: 3,049 electric vehicles sold in October!
Sales by type of energy in October 2021
In October 2021, vehicles powered by alternative energy (100% electric, plug-in hybrids and conventional hybrids) had the largest market share, with 45.06%, surpassing the number of vehicles with a gasoline internal combustion engine ( with a market share of 35.12%) and vehicles with a diesel internal combustion engine (with a market share of 19.80%), according to the Association.
Regarding the best-selling brands in our country, Peugeot was in first place with 288 units sold, followed by Hyundai and Renault a little further away. In normal terms, Peugeot consolidates the national top, immediately followed by Tesla and Nissan a little further behind.
In the month of the COP26, in Glasgow, it appears that Portugal is on the right path towards electrification and decarbonization, with two important milestones for Electric Mobility reached in October 2021: higher monthly value of electric vehicles sold in 2021 ( with 3,049 vehicles) and the highest monthly quota value registered to date (with 27.6%).
