Attendance at the Dijon fair down 30% this year
“It’s been 50 years that our company has been still positive in the context of the health crisis. The 2021 edition of the Dijon Fair recorded a 30% drop in attendance with 110,000 visitors all the same. this is also reflected in the turnover of this 91st edition, also down by 30%.
Dijon is doing better than other fairs
This year, it was the big comeback of the Dijon gastronomic fair after an absence forced by confinements and restrictions linked to covid-19. It was also necessary to present a health pass to be able to enter its enclosure. All these elements explain this predictable drop in attendance when the number of exhibitors was also down with 150 fewer stands. But across the country, fairs show a drop in the number of visitors by 50% on average. With 30%, Dijon is therefore doing rather better than the other fairs.
More and more young people
Another satisfaction, holding the Dijon fair obviously more and more young people. Example with Jimmy, Geoffrey and Kylian who arrive straight from Pierre de Bresse in Saône-et-Loire to present the end of this fair “We came to do the pub crawl “ confesses one of the friends with shining eyes “Here, you can also find lots of good things to eat, including things that you are not used to, and frankly it’s cool!”
“We balance the accounts” – a furniture dealer
“Our company has been coming to the Dijon fair for 50 years. This year, in fact, we saw fewer people and it seemed longer” notes Olivier Kirsch, Mignot furniture, near Fontainebleau “We balance the accounts and we arrive at point zero whereas usually we come out with a positive result. Good this edition allowed us to find our customers. This fair drains people over several hundred kilometers to Lyon and it remains an interesting event. ‘
The next big meeting at Congrexpo will be the Habitat fair from March 5 to 7.
