According to CDA council Diederik Boomsma, people are banging on the windows and people are holding signs with regard to the text: ‘squatting goes’. She presses this against the window on the first floor.
JA21 councilor Annabel Nanninga also reports that the meeting where movement is now being voted on has been disrupted. ‘The town hall has been climbed. People are now banging on the windows of the council chamber. Kind of activists or something’, she writes on Twitter with the tag ‘search a job’.
‘I’m going to break’
BIJ1 party chairman Jazie Veldhuyzen writes on Twitter: ‘Haha I’m breaking down. In this way we vote on the movement to make Amsterdam a squatter-friendly city. There is loud cheering from activists outside: ‘the squatting continues!’ Someone also managed to put up a banner in the window of the council chamber (first floor)’ .
The police have the incident. “Earlier in the evening there was an announced demonstration at the Stopera where about 40 people attended,” says one. “Around nine o’clock the demonstration was finished and the demonstrators left. One shown has returned and climbed to the roof of a cafe later knocked on the windows of the council chamber. This took 2 to 3 minutes. When the police returned, the activists had left. There is nobody.”
