The builders will build a colonnade along the Poříčí, over five kilometers of footpaths and approximately three kilometers of paths for pedestrians and cyclists. The riverbed adjusts so that the current high ramparts. As a result, large amounts of water can safely spill into the immediate area in the future. Workers will also build new dikes.

“Part of the contract is also the planting of woody plants and ensuring flood protection of sewers and relocations of engineering networks. We also added a fundamental issue to the project – the reconstruction of the main sewer A and the water supply system, “said Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík.

The modifications will affect the right and left bank of the river. The new use will be given a place next to the SKP Kometa area. “In the area of ​​the former Favorit, a swimming pool close to nature will be created, where there will be water with a relatively large depth,” Hladík mentioned.

The costs for stages 7 and 8 are one and a half billion crowns. Up to 922 million will be obtained by city officials thanks to subsidies from European funds. The remaining six hundred million pays from the city coffers.

If none of the bidders appeal against the result of the tender, they will start work before Christmas. In the end, two construction seasons will last. Their completion is planned for the end of next year. The beginning of construction was constantly postponed this year. The workers were originally scheduled to start in January. Other dates were May or June. Autumn was talked about later.

Due to the lack of flood control measures, further development around the river is currently severely limited. The area belongs to the flood zone of the river, without protection against large water there is a new construction.

Protection against high water in Brno does not exist in other places of Svratka, as well as in Svitavy. Therefore, further development is blocked in one third of the city’s territory belonging to the flood zone.
