Five years after his assault in Lyon, Marin gives his news
Marin and Emmanuel Macron, in 2019
Struck and seriously injured in 2016 in the middle of the street in Lyon, the story of this young man, who intervened to defend a couple, had moved the general public.
From the start, Martin announces it, he wants “turn the page” and “go forward”. In a photo, the young man looks good. He poses, in the middle of nature, on a path, looking serene. Five years ago, on November 11, 2016, he intervened because a young man was attacking a couple at Part-Dieu in Lyon. In return, he had taken numerous blows to the head, which left him seriously injured. He has been undergoing rehabilitation since.
“Of course, I could not, I know it, maybe not to do things as before, because of my after-effects … but … I’m moving forward”, explains Marin. Turn the page yes, but don’t forget. “I could never forget the results of this gratuitous violence, stupidity and human wickedness …”, explains the one who remains physically marked by the violence he has suffered. “I do not give up, and I continue my fight relentlessly, ALWAYS with my head UP”, Marin concludes for his more than 200,000 subscribers.
Aged 17 at the time of the facts, the attacker was sentenced in May 2018 to seven and a half years in prison by the Lyon juvenile assize court. He had applied for parole in 2020 which had been refused on appeal.
