Corona crisis: Greens and SPÖ cancel their party meeting in Salzburg
Due to the current corona crisis, two large party events will not take place this coming weekend. Both the Greens (state assembly) and the SPÖ (state party conference) announced cancellations or postponements on Thursday. And the career information fair (BIM) does not take place either.
Deputy head of the Greens and Provincial Governor Heinrich Schellhorn at short notice: “Even if we had exceeded the provisions with the prevention concept, 2G rule and additional PCR tests, holding them would be inappropriate in the current situation and would send the wrong signal. I appeal to everyone: Let’s make the rest of November a ‘November’ without large gatherings and events, without large get-togethers. Two quiet weeks that work and protect. “
According to state manager Simon Heilig-Hofbauer, the Greens want to make up for the state assembly on January 15, 2022 as an online event.
The Social Democrats will not meet this Saturday either. Country Managing Director Gerald Forcher: “Even if we are convinced that our party congress would have become a safe event under increased security precautions as 2G, now is not the right one for events of this kind and would ultimately also be lacking in solidarity with the nursing staff on the hospital wards. As the SPÖ, we feel it is our responsibility to lead by example and are under control. “
The BIM will only be available in January
The organizers have postponed the job information fair “BIM” – because of the current Corona situation. The largest vocational and education fair in Western Austria, which was planned from November 18 to 21, is now to take place from January 20 to 23. The “AustrianSkills 2021” – the Austrian state championships for professions – should take place as planned. The “BIM” attracts almost 30,000 visitors to the Salzburg Exhibition Center every year.
