Toulouse: the Toulouse musical comedy school to storm Broadway!
Annelise Calas opened the first School of Musical Comedy in Toulouse in 2017. She is currently preparing with her students the next shows for December 2021.
Annelise Calas is on top of things. She is preparing the two shows for December 5: “Once upon a time there was a fairy” for children and “Let the show begin” for adolescents and adults.
Created in 2017 by this professional dancer, who spent nine years in the United States as a show girl in Las Vegas and New York and who knows how to push the note, the School of Musical Comedy of Toulouse (ECMT) is unique on the city to provide several disciplines: “In the provinces, this type of school which allows you to indulge in singing, dancing and theater is rather rare. Unlike Paris ”. For the musical aspect, the CEMT is inspired by the great classic American and British shows. In other words, Broadway is never very far!
“We have kept the link with our students”
A target of students (from the age of four) follows the lessons of six teachers around an intensive and rigorous learning. Teachers who adapt to each individual’s level: “Obviously we welcome more girls than boys,” notes Annelise. They still have some reluctance to push through the door despite the film Billy Elliot but I do not despair. These classes are a great way for children and adults to gain confidence and self-control. Moreover, these disciplines arouse vocations ”. The young woman who, in 2017, was a little apprehensive about the opening of her school, is now reassured! “Of course the covid penalized us like all artistic structures, but we have made a vision to continue the lessons and not lose the link with our students. It was essential ”.
In the large warm-up room, the bars wait for the next class. December 5 is coming soon: the show does not wait.
