Mézeshegy and Pipóhegy streets, with benches, curbs and rainwater drainage, will be paved with asphalt pavement over the entire width of nearly a thousand meters. The HUF 189 million investment will be completed by the end of next summer. In addition to the mentioned streets, the asphalting of Portörő Street in the area was also started
– we learned from László Papp at a press conference held at the site of the works on Wednesday.
“We promised to put these roads in order four years ago.” Although resources were available, implementation was most affected by ownership issues. There were also expropriation tasks in connection with the width of the road, said the mayor of Debrecen.
Member of Parliament László Pósán added that there used to be gardens in the eastern part of the city. These roads have retained their former vineyard character, with traffic not following residential traffic. As a result, there are many obstacles to asphalting.
“It’s a long way, but it’s an unusual collaboration.” The asphalting of the roads was free of charge, several property owners did not attend the works or were not available – said László Türk. The municipal representative added
the locals personally sought out those affected, so the population played a key role in removing barriers to property.
