Spandau with last-minute goal at 11:11 against Hanover – BZ Berlin
Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 drew 11:11 (3: 2.1: 2.4: 1.3: 6) in the Champions League main round in the prestige duel against arch rivals Waspo Hannover on Wednesday evening.
This means that both teams remain in the race for the four places in the group of eight for the “Final 8” of the royal competition in Belgrade in June 2022.
The Wednesday game on Matchday 2 of Group B was already the third duel of the season between the top German teams. The game was a match from the start without a clear team. Spandau decided the first quarter 3: 2, in the second section Waspo equalized with two nice goals from Montenegrin Darko Brguljan to make it 4: 4.
In the second half, Spandau was able to get away with three goals (8: 5) for the first time in the third quarter on the basis of concentrated coverage and good exploitation of chances. A preliminary decision had not yet been made, because in the middle of the final quarter the Lower Saxony not only equalized to 9: 9, but even managed the 10: 9 lead through Ivan Nagaev.
After Jörn Winkelhorst’s goal at 11:10, Waspo already looked like the winner one and a half minutes before the end. But with the last attack by Spandau, Nikola Dedovic equalized 2.3 seconds before the siren. “But it felt like a defeat,” said manager Peter Röhle. The best goal scorers for the hosts were Dmitri Kholod and Dedovic (3 each), while Marin Restovic and Mateo Cuk scored twice.
