Lifebrain-Labor takes on PCR analyzes for the State of Salzburg
Analysis and test kit delivery for the Salzburg test roads reassigned at short notice
Vienna / Salzburg (OTS) – In view of the implementation problems with the PCR-Gurgel test streets in the State of Salzburg, the State of Salzburg has drawn the necessary conclusions: Due to the persistent delays in analysis and diagnosis and the delivery difficulties of the previous supplier of Gurgel test kits, the Lifebrain laboratory in Vienna was given the test kit at short notice -Delivery and commissioned for the PCR gargle tests. Just a few hours after the order was placed, Lifebrain supplied eleven test roads in the State of Salzburg with an initial delivery of a total of 26,000 Gurgel test kits as well as acceptance material and accessories; further deliveries are in preparation. In addition, the prerequisites for the timely and high-quality evaluation of the Salzburg PCR samples were created in the Vienna Lifebrain Laboratory; including guaranteed evaluation of the analysis results within a maximum of 24 hours after the gargle. The first 242 Salzburg PCR samples were analyzed and financed in the Lifebrain laboratory on Tuesday afternoon, almost 20 hours after the first request from the Salzburg governor’s office.
“We are very proud that our laboratory continues,” explains Lifebrain Managing Director Univ.Prof. Dr. Michael Havel. “We implemented the very complex framework conditions for this overnight – from the connection of the registration platform to our IT system to the sufficient supply of PCR-Gurgel test kits to the delivery of Salzburg-specific labels on the test kits. Testing, testing, testing is the most important motto of the hour. It was a matter of course for us to be able to implement the logistics and laboratory order in the shortest possible time and with optimal quality. “
Logistical feat: implementation of the PCR test system overnight
After the previous logistics and analysis partner in Salzburg repeatedly failed to deliver sufficient test kits and there were repeated long waiting times for the test results, Lifebrain was contacted by the State of Salzburg on the evening of November 8th about a possible takeover of the test program. In close coordination with the Lifebrain partner Veloce, the logistics were planned shortly before midnight; the test kits were also already picked; During the night eleven of 14 Salzburg test roads with Gurgel test kits, acceptance material and accessories were believed. At the same time, the IT experts from the State of Salzburg and the Lifebrain Laboratory implemented the connection of the registration platform to the Lifebrain IT system overnight. The first Salzburg samples arrived at the Lifebrain laboratory for analysis at 2:30 p.m. on the following day (Tuesday). The green pass certificates for the first 242 test results were issued on Tuesday evening. All of the more than 6,200 samples that had arrived by midnight have now been analyzed and medically validated.
The Lifebrain laboratory is also well equipped for short-term expansion of analysis and logistics services. During the summer, the analysis capacity in the laboratory was increased to 500,000 PCR analyzes per day; In addition, Lifebrain has set up several warehouses for gargle test kits and laboratory and analysis materials, each of which ensures supplies for around three months. In addition, Lifebrain has set up the supply chain flexibly with several partners so that there are no dependencies on individual suppliers and thus potential interruptions in the supply chain.
The Lifebrain laboratory was opened in December 2020 in the Penzing Clinic in 1140 Vienna, on the site of the former Otto Wagner Hospital. As an analysis partner of the successful Viennese “Alles gurgelt!” – Lifebrain program, you can collect well-founded experience, even with high test quantities. With investments of around 40 million euros, the Lifebrain laboratory has been expanded into one of the largest COVID-19 laboratories in Europe in recent months – around 1,000 employees handle the logistics and laboratory services for the “everything gurgles!” Programs in Vienna and Upper Austria as well as for numerous other partners from administration and business. For example, the participants at the Forum Alpbach and the Vienna City Marathon were given the tried and tested Gurgel-Kits. Lifebrain is currently also presenting partnerships with winter sports locations to enable safe skiing in Austria for the winter of 2021/22.
