Covid19. Incidence, hospitalizations, deaths: where is the epidemic in Toulouse and Occitanie?

While the Head of State addressed the French on Tuesday evening for the ninth time since the start of the health crisis, where is the Covid-19 epidemic in Toulouse and Occitanie. We take stock.
The incidence rate: increasing
” The epidemic situation is deteriorating in Occitanie“, Warns the Regional Health Agency (ARS), which calls for” vigilance “in its latest bulletin issued Tuesday, November 9 at 19 hours.
“The average incidence rate is now more than 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. All the departments of the region are affected by this upward trend ”. In total, 3,800 positive cases have been identified in Occitania from November 1 to 7, 2021 according to the ARS. In addition, more than 142,000 tests were performed and 2.7% were positive.

And in Toulouse?
And where is the epidemic situation in Toulouse? The latest incidence rate recorded (as of November 6) is 66.3 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants at the metropolitan scale. After declining for several weeks, the incidence rate is now on a plateau that is rising slightly, as shown in this graph:
Compared to other metropolises, Toulouse is not among the most attracted cities for the moment.
Evolution of hospitalizations:
In terms of hospitalizations, where are we in Occitanie? “The epidemic resumption has a moderate impact on health establishments for the moment, but the flow of hospital admissions and intensive care tends to increase in recent days in our region”, estimates the ARS.
Tuesday evening, the ARS identified 505 hospitalizations in Occitania (+4 compared to the last bulletin issued on November 5), including 89 in intensive care (+1).
In Haute-Garonne, 136 patients infected with Covid-19 are operated on, including 15 in intensive care.
In total, 5,248 deaths were recorded in health establishments since March 2020 in Occitania.

Vaccination figures
It has been confirmed since Emmanuel Macron’s announcements: the vaccine booster will be extended to people over 50 years old in early December. And from December 15, a third dose will be necessary to extend the validity of the health pass for those over 65 and the most vulnerable.
Fr Occitania, more than 8.9 million doses of vaccines have been administered in Occitania. 91.8% of the population over 18 has already received at least one injection (78.9% of the general population). According to the ARS, 349,500 people have already requested a booster dose.
