SAN MARINO (ITALPRESS) – “An indelible symbol of the history of our country, sporting and social, of which we are honored to celebrate the 90th anniversary of its foundation”. These are the words with which this afternoon the Captains Regent of San Marino Francesco Mussoni and Giacomo Simoncini, together with the Secretary of State for Sport Teodoro Lonfernini, welcomed in a private audience the highest offices of the San Marino Football Federation and the Cons, in occasion of the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the most representative movement of the San Marino sports scene. “The first, timid signs of the history of San Marino football have their roots in the 1920s, taking the first steps on the only field available at the time in the Republic, that of Borgo Maggiore – recalled the president of the FSGC Marco Tura – . “Since then, we have come a long way, a story marked by the organization of the first San Marino Championship in 1985 and by the entry into the European and world confederations of Uefa and Fifa, dated 1988”.
The Fsgc is today the federation with the highest number of members, including athletes, coaches and, of the San Marino sports scene: the high standards treated have allowed San Marino football to become a credible and reliable partner for many federations of immensely larger dimensions. At the end of the hearing, the federal leaders gave the representatives of the institutions the special uniform that the national team will wear for the match against England next Monday, bearing the colors of the San Marino flag used before the blue and white. A way to pay homage to the history of the Republic, on a particularly significant day.
