Unique house in Šlapanice: with a book in hand, newly on the terrace overlooking the park
The new library offers modern interiors with a department for children and adults, as well as a lecture hall. “The library and the whole house are integrated into the natural area of a large city park, organically connected to each other. For example, readers can now sit with books on the terrace overlooking the park, “said the mayor of Šlapanice Michaela Trněná. The outdoor living terrace is part of the building.
The library has moved from the central Masaryk Square to the quiet park environment and at the same time the vicinity of the grammar school. “We will very well adapt its original premises to another department of the kindergarten,” said Trněná.
The library in the new building received a separate lecture hall. “In the old premises, we had to clear part of the room and prepare it all day,” said library manager Rostislav Faber.
There were approximately forty-eight million crowns for the construction of the new house. Workers began work last August.
A novelty in Šlapanice is also the first local bookhouse at the health center in Karla Čapka Street. Used for free borrowing and exchange of books. It was filled with them for the first time on the occasion of the grand opening of the house in the park.
“Visitors or passers-by can now not only borrow books, but also take them home. On the contrary, if they have a book they have already read at home and they are sorry to throw it away, I will exchange it for another in the bookhouse. Or they will just leave it there so that someone else can read it, “said Anna Mrázová, a spokeswoman for Šlapanice.
