Since this summer, an individual has been shooting a rifle at dogs walking through the fields in the Ginestous district. One of them was fatally injured. While an investigation was opened, three victims testify. Reporting.
This Sunday, Stéphanie Gomar returned to the place where her dog Roxie almost lost his life on October 27. “We had gone for a walk on this path,” she explains, pointing to a forest path on the plain of Ginestous. At one point, Roxie forked to cross an unfenced field. A few seconds later, I heard several shots fired from an old farmhouse. Shortly after my calls, Roxie returned moaning, her body riddled with lead and covered in blood. ” Transported to the veterinary emergency room, the animal was rescued. Since Stéphanie, who lodged a complaint against X, wants to understand why and by whom, Roxie was injured. “I will not let go, she insists. This attitude is unforgivable. I conducted my investigation and I discovered that, for several months, other dogs have been the victims of gunfire.”
Gérard Gervois is one of those masters who lost his animal: “My Labrador was two years old, he remembers. I had harvested it at the SPA. And he died for having run in a field. The veterinarians do not ‘could not do anything. Losing your animal in this way is unbearable. This act must be severely punished. ” Estelle Auriac’s dog Poppy also almost lost his life in the same context. Fortunately he got away with it.
On this rainy Sunday, we meet Frédéric who also walks his dog on the path. When we teach him the latest events, he turns around with his dog, a pointer: “I won’t go any further. No need to take any risks,” he said, not reassured.
Christophe, a neighbor, lives a few dozen meters from the building from which the shots were heard. He says his occupant is trigger-happy. Lupine, another neighbor, adds that animals that venture onto this property are poisoned. For the moment at which there is nothing to attract attention and the investigation will have to determine who is at the origin of the shots fired against the dogs. The neighborhood mayor, Olivier Arsac, takes the matter very seriously: “I have just learned that the owners of these dogs have lodged a complaint with the national police,” said this elected official. This is absolutely necessary so that she can conduct an investigation as quickly as possible. Moreover I understand the emotion of these people. Today there are more and more walkers in Ginestous. The town hall has invested a lot to develop leisure and sports in this district and give it a pleasant and peaceful image ”.
Céline Gardel, police officer and president of the “4 Pattounes” association which helps mistreated animals, joined in the complaint. It is also on the initiative of the Animal Protection Brigade (BPA), made up of law enforcement and civilians to identify cases of animal abuse.
