The number of tourists in Prague increased by 42 percent to 1,064 million in the summer

The number of tourists in Prague increased by two-fifths in the third quarter of this year, but at the same time almost nothing more they spent in accommodation facilities. From July to the end of September, 1,064 million people were accommodated in hotels, boarding houses or campsites in the capital, ie almost 42 percent more than a year ago.
The number of nights they spent increased by 46 percent to 2,384 million. Czechs and foreigners were more interested in Prague year-on-year. This resulted from data published on its website by the Czech Statistical Office (CSO) on Tuesday.
Over 623,000 foreigners stayed in the Czech capital in the summer, leaving 43 percent more. The year-on-year increase in the number of Czech tourists in Prague was only slightly lower, amounting to 40 percent, and 440,000 Czechs used Prague accommodation services.
The number of nights spent was also more pronounced among foreign tourists. The number of their overnight stays in the Czech capital increased by 47 percent to 1.5 million. Tourists from the Czech Republic stayed in Prague accommodation facilities for almost 880 thousand nights, which is 44 percent more than a year ago.
6.7 million guests used the services of hotels, boarding houses and camps in the Czech Republic, you will receive 12.5 percent more. However, compared to 2019, when tourism did not affect the coronavirus epidemic, it was a tenth less. There were 11 percent more nights this year from September compared to last year, and tourists spent 19.4 million nights in accommodation facilities in the main tourist areas in July.
According to statistics, guests from Germany, who made up more than a quarter of Czech clients’ foreign clients, came to the Czech Republic from abroad. The second largest group consisted of visitors to Slovakia, followed by Poles.
